A paragliding mecca, Sedgefield also offers a wide range of aquatic attractions. Sedgefield's large lagoon, is wedged between the Swartvlei and Groenveli Lakes, and boasts many excellent beach destinations such as Myoli, Cola and Gericke's Point. Swimming, body surfing, surfing, canoeing, yachting, skiing and jet skiing, wind surfing and kite surfing are all on offer in this area. Not to mention fishing and spear fishing.
For all its natural attractions (some of the tallest fossilized sand dunes in South Africa, coastal fynbos, lakeside and forest trails), Sedgefield has in recent years become especially popular with tourists through its weekly Wild Oats Community Farmers' Market and Scarab Crafts Market. The town also offers many other interesting shopping experiences, including fine restaurants, coffee shops, antique dealers, art galleries and has a wide variety of accommodation.
Sedgefield also serves as home to the Sedgefield Mosaic project, a venture utilizing the artistic talents of the local community to turn Sedgefield into the "Mosaic Capital of South Africa". These brightly coloured and playful artworks can be seen throughout town, turning mundane objects such as public benches and bus stops into wonderful surprises of colour.
Sedgefield has a quaint, countrified pace of life, but also provides ample opportunities to be bold, like taking a tandem paragliding flight, for instance. With so much diversity and choice, the town is a perfect family destination.
