| Pledge Nature Reserve |
 |
Before the decision was made to rehabilitate the 10 hectares of bush above Knysna's main road over two decades ago, it was a wasteland. The verdant heart of Knysna is a precious piece of purely indigenous flora known as the Pledge Nature Reserve - a pleasantly quiet, arcane, sanctuary where members of the public can escape in unfettered natural surroundings.
Today it is hard to believe that it previously was a brickyard dump.

| Welcome to Knysna |
Knysna, on the Garden Route, is one of the most diverse regions in the world and the result of this interesting topography is a magnitude of activities - from world class golf courses and spa's to forest hikes, diving, 4x4, abseiling, canopy tree tours, forest cycling and horse riding, beaches to stroll, swim or surf, paddling, bird watching - the options are endless!

Knysna's history is interwoven with its rich natural heritage namely the surrounding indigenous forests. Towards the end of the 18th century, European stock farmers and woodcutters had established themselves in the district. For many years the forests were mercilessly robbed of its rich resources, supplying timber to the furniture, construction and mining industries. Today the forests are managed according to strict conservation principles and harvesting is done in a responsible and ecologically sensitive manner. The Knysna forest may be enjoyed on foot, on horseback, by bicycle or by car. Walks range from strolls to treks (1 km to 21 km). Many spectacular routes contribute to Knysna being a cycling mecca. You could pedal around at a pedestrian pace or go barreling through the indigenous forests and mountain dirt tracks.
Visitors to the town are spoilt for choice with a kaleidoscope of unforgettable experiences to choose from. Enjoy a stroll around town and visit some of the wonderful restaurants and coffee shops the town has to offer or indulge yourself with some retail therapy. We have an excellent African Craft Market and some great boutiques and art establishments to explore.
Knysna boasts two excellent Golf Resorts, namely Pezula (designed by David Dale & Ronald Fream of GolfPlan USA) and Simola (the first Jack Nicklaus Signature course on the Garden Route). To all golfers - come and test your skills on these amazing courses and for the non golfers - enjoy a morning or afternoon at their respective spas!
Visit the Knysna Elephant Park and have an incredibly close encounter with one of these amazing animals or go on your own personal search for the mysterious Knysna forest elephant. One of the most amazing trips is a ferry ride to the Featherbed Nature Reserve where you can take in the splendor of the Knysna Heads and Lagoon and at the same time learn about the history of the town and the personalities that go to make up its past. For the more indulgent enjoy a sunset yacht cruise with drinks and snacks at anchor in the Lagoon!
