| Welcome to Buffalo Bay |
Locals call it "Buffs" and it's the fishing, surfing and family destination in Knysna .
Situated midway between Sedgefield and Knysna, Buffalo Bay primarily attracts families seeking a safe swimming experience. It has a well-protected beach and is also quite popular with surfers who venture farther out in search of bigger waves!
The proximity of the Goukama Nature Reserve lends an added attraction to Buffalo Bay, as does a vast stretch of beach which connects to Brenton-on-Sea. For those of you wanting to have a wonderful wonder along the beach after a long drive from Cape Town or Port Elizabeth the beach walk between Buffalo Bay and Brenton is a must (takes approx. 2 ½ hours if you do the complete distance). In addition you may get to see some dolphins or whales (seasonal)!
Buffalo Bay is also a very popular fishing hotspot and when the conditions are favourable you can catch Steenbras, Cob, Musselcracker, Bluefish and even a shark or two.
